Lion's Pride/Dogfish 120/Oxbow Brewery

Hello All,
I had a chance to go to Lion's Pride again last night with The Lady (as you can tell we try to get there at least a few times a month) and as usual Ryan and Leigh were awesome.............I hope I spelled her name right. The tap list was great. My first beer was the elusive Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA on tap. I've had it once before out of the bottle and I can say its better out of the tap. It was a fresher more piney taste with the hops adding that and a nice mild bitterness. Even with a blistering 21% ABV you really can't tell................pretty dangerous. As I was drinking it the alcohol was causing me to flush so it heats you up pretty well.
The next beer I had was the local brewery Oxbow Farmhouse Pale Ale. As previously stated in this blog I am very excited about this brewery. Their beers are flavorful, bold, well thought out and going into the higher end craft beer genre like no other in the state. The pale ale is delicious, crisp with an appropriate amount of farmhouse funk. The Lady had Oxbow Freestyle IPA and I had a few generous sips and it is another tasty beer. Good hop smell and flavor with that saison farmhouse funk which I love
The Lady and I decided to get an old favorite of ours. A bottle of Fantome Hiver. At 8% it has quite a kick that I had forgot about but has that Fantome farmey, funky, organic, hint of Belgian dirt that makes this brewery a one of a kind. Ryan had mentioned how this bottle had been around 2 years and that aging really adds a ton of body and funk to the beer. We originally had these as fresh bottle but aging it takes it to another level. If you have never had this beer or found it you now know where to get it...............Lion's Pride. Highly recommended

Long Trail Triple Bag

Hola Beer world,
I have been gone for a bit but now I'm back drinking a tasty beer as par the course. The beer this evening is Long Trail Triple Bag. I have had the double bag which is really good and I just happened upon this a my local beer store today. It comes in a box with a steroided out cow on it. It can't get any better and at 9.2 percent abv it gets you there quickly. It has a great hop and malt flavor with no real alcohol overtones. Get to your local store and try it out. It comes in a great packaged 4 pack.

OXBOW BREWERY

I had a great time at Lion's Pride the other night. Many a great beer, food and conversation.  I'm going to attempt to get there with the lady more often. I learn more about new breweries and beers everytime I go. The new brewery I'm excited about is called Oxbow out of Maine no less. Its in the Darmiscotta/New Castle area of Maine. I tried one of their beers at Lion's Pride and it was a fantastic Saison. They are going to be making alot more experimental beers from what I have been told so when I know and taste more I will obviously let you know.  The words musty and funky came up quite a bit so I'm very excited.

Stillwater/Mikkeller

I am now drinking a collaboration of 2 great breweries. The beer is called Rule of Thirds. It's a Belgian tripel. Good hop flavor with that smooth ending. Very good. Stillwater is a brewery that recently has been heavily on my radar for being top notch

Lion's Pride

I'm at Lions Pride I Brunswick and of course I'm here for the beer. First up! Station 7 saison and the herby taste and crispy end are  great. If any of you have not been to lions pride you should come here. Great food, beer and beer education

Dark Beyond the Blue by Hammock

Instead of reviewing and rambling on endlessly about this band and this song I will leave it here for anyone that needs a moment. That end of the day of a tiring life moment when its just you in a dark room relaxing watching this moment. Hopefully you find it as healing and full of life as I do.

Super Brew 15 Part 2

Ok so I am taking back what I said about this beer. Within 2 minutes of writing my first post it warmed up 2 degrees and somehow became disgusting. It had a metal, alcohol taste that was beyond gross. So apparently you have to drink this beer fast and cold or it becomes a total mess of a beer. Unless you are going through a dark lonely winter in Romania where this would fit in just fine.

So True

The lady took a picture of this and of course is soooooooooooo true............even though I will indulge in some cheap beer if the occasion calls for it.

SUPER BREW 15...........strange love from Romania

So I saw this at Rooper's at the counter and the guy is like, "Apparently this is one of the strongest beers that is allowed in the US". Hence the 15,.....for 15 percent ABV.....actually 14.9%.   My first sip greeted me with a whopping taste of alcohol. It's Romanian what the hell did I expect. Then it calmed down a bit and wasn't half bad. I of course am drinking this on an empty stomach..........no one said I was smart.......I'm just a good time!!  So go to Rooper's and buy this Romanian love fest and see for yourself.

My girl.......Ebenezer

Love. The dictionary describes love as an intense feeling of affection and care towards another person. Its also described as a deep or abiding liking for something. Perhaps it's more scientific in nature. Like in chemistry when there is affinity between atoms and they form a bond.
All's I know my friends is I'm in love. As of yesterday I realized it has happened to me. Like a scorching bolt from the sky...........I knew.  My face warm and blush, the palpitating heart, the excitement and wonder of when we maybe together again. Every waking moment thinking and craving that moment. For all you gentlemen out there that hold their feelings back, I understand your pain but no more will I be silent or ashamed of this beautiful feeling. I have decided to let the world know my love!..........................................

Dear Ebenezer's Pub,
I love you and want to be with you forever!!!
                                                                                                           Love Tom

Southern Tier Jah-va Imperial Coffee Stout

Just popped this bad boy open. So good. It has the bitter coffee smell and flavor that smoothes out as it warms up. The warming alcohol burn couldn't hurt either. As you probably can tell I am drinking as much of the Southern Tier Blackwater series as possible. I haven't been disappointed yet. If you haven't tried any you really should.

Finger Lakes Beverage Center

So I'm always trying to find the best beer bars and bottle shops I can. I do this so if I'm traveling I'm never with out a tasty beer. My girlfriend Lisa comes from the Finger Lake region of New York. I just ran into a very impressive bottle shop in Ithaca Ny. If you are ever visiting or going through this is the place to go. I'm leaving you with a link to their website and a You Tube video of a guy shopping there. Pretty sweet!

Southern Tier (Black Water Series) Creme Brulee Stout

HOLY JESUS this stout is delicious. I just had a great dinner of grilled pork chops with Sesame Ginger dressing basted on. Then I decided to open this epic love fest of a beer. IT TASTES LIKE CREME BRULEE! Finally a brewery gets it right. If you can get your hands on this beer you won't be disappointed.

Popping my blogging cherry

Well........I'm finally doing it. I'm the 40 year old virgin(I'm not 40 but you get it). I'm starting a blog. I'm waaaaaaaay behind the eight ball but like they say better now then never.........I'm not sure who they is. All I do know is that I love beer and I love talking about it. Yeah, yeah so do a ton of other beer geeks across the planet. So what makes me different? Probably nothing. I do plan on talking about stuff besides beer. Music, life, my secret other life as a woman in Seattle. Well...........maybe I will talk about that I haven't decided yet. To be honest at this point I'm just writing a letter to myself. No one as of yet is following this drunken prom date................BUT SOON I WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD...............or have another beer.............the latter more likely.

I currently have 2 jobs so I'm busy which is good but I want my job to be eventually beer driven. I need to own a beer bar or a bottle shop or both. We all can dream can't we. So far the biggest problem is the beers close to my heart are on the West Coast and I'm in Maine of course in the Northeast. This causes a distribution problem of sorts. Maine, end of the line and only a million people in the whole state. Small delicious west coast craft breweries not interested in spending sooooooooo much cash for so little exposure. It's getting better I'm told but I'm not holding my breath. I have some solutions but we will see. If anyone reading this has any suggestions I am all ears.

Well this is my quick introduction and as time goes along you will get more and more and more of me. Which as my girlfriend will tell you is probably a bad thing.   Cheers!!    Wait fuck that every fucking beer guy does that. Tot de volgende keer!!!!!
